A tragic incident occurred at the popular Kumbhe waterfall in Mangaon, Raigad district, Maharashtra, where 27-year-old influencer Anavi Kamdar from Mumbai lost her life after falling into a 300-foot-deep gorge. The police reported that the accident happened on Tuesday while Kamdar was on a monsoon outing with seven of her friends.
Residing in Mumbai, Kamdar had gone on the waterfall excursion with her friends on July 16. The outing turned tragic around 10:30 AM when she fell into the deep gorge while recording a video.
Anavi Kamdar was well-known on Instagram under the handle @theglocaljournal, where she had 257,000 followers. She shared content about travel, luxury discoveries, cafes, itineraries, tips, and personal experiences. Her bio mentioned that she was a chartered accountant and had previously worked at Deloitte.
“When we arrived at the scene, we found that the girl had fallen around 300-350 feet,” an NDTV rescue worker said. It was difficult to get to her since she was hurt and it was pouring rain. Thus, we made the decision to raise her out using a vertical pulley.”
